Most Memorable Incident:Skating in Edinburgh Scotland, where nobody is into skating, and the road surface is generally terrible. But I had fun with the challenge of it.
What do you get from Skating: I get a sense of adventure from skating through the city streets. The sights and sounds are a bit different every day. I like to see people on the street, and to be seen by them.
I talk to strangers. Skating in the city makes me feel alive, and it makes me feel like I belong in the place where I am.
And... the physical exercise is a wonderful side effect. It doesn't feel like work when you are having fun.
Would like to do this Year in Skating: Meet more fun people.
Coolest Accomplishment: I was a computer chip designer in the 80?s and 90?s, back when that was still a cool and fun thing to do.
Other Sports/Hobbies you Enjoy: Alpine skiing!
Favorite skating gadget/tool: Helmet with sparkly lights on it, for night skating
What do you enjoy about being a member of HCIC: I like being part of a community of skaters.

Helpful advice to other skaters/ Beginners: Start out on easy terrain (no hills). Then add new challenges a little at a time.
